Summer Tutoring

I am proud of the great progress that students have made this year. However, that hard work can be forgotten over the summer without frequent practice. I strongly recommend tutoring to maintain the important skills that have been learned this year. Fortunately, there are fabulous teachers at Georgetown that are providing private tutoring. Contact them soon, so that you have this support in place for the summer.

**Our school library will also be open on Tuesdays this summer (10:00-12:00). We will have leveled books available, as well as regular library books. Classroom teachers will be there to help your child find some great just right books!

Happy Summer!

Students receiving reading support this year have made great progress. To maintain important skills, please make sure that your child continues to read throughout the summer. Your family can also visit school on Tuesdays, 10:00-12:00, to check out books from our library. We will have a special WEB collection for students PreK-1st grade. I will reassess your child in the fall to determine any reading support needs for second grade. Have a wonderful summer!

School Library Open This Summer!

This summer, our school library will be open for students to check out books. On Tuesdays, 10:00-12:00, students can stop by school to check out books and visit with their favorite teachers. Research has shown that students who choose to read throughout the summer are more successful readers. Help to establish healthy reading habits and mark this on your calendars. Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Raise a Reader School Challenge

We have the incredible opportunity to win $5,000 for our school library through a contest called, Raise a Reader School Challenge. Individual readers are also eligible for great prizes.

The contest is sponsored by the International Reading Association and Parents Magazine.

As a school, we are participating in a national contest that requires students to log their reading minutes from March 8 to May 31. We would like to ask every parent to register for this program today. You will then log in your child’s minutes read at home. The winning school (most minutes read) will receive $5,000 toward library books.

Simply go to this link: RAISE A READER SCHOOL CHALLENGE

If you have questions at any time, check with Mrs. VandenBerg, our school librarian, or your child’s teacher.

Thank you for doing such a great job to raise your child to be a reader and for supporting our school library!
