August is Here!

Wondering what your first grader can do for the few weeks left of SUMMER? Here are some ideas:

  1. READ …. READ…. then READ some more. You can read to your child or have your child read to you. Set a goal of at least 15 minutes per day.
  1. Use MOBYMAX.COM to maintain your first grader’s skills for math, reading, writing, science, etc. Set a goal of at least 15 minutes per day. Visit this post to find out more about earning points to enter a drawing for an ipad mini.
  1. Collect BOX TOPS to help earn money for our school. These box tops help us to buy books, playground equipment and many other items for our school. If every student in our school fills out one form with box tops, we will earn $3,000 for our school and possibly enough for another GAGA PIT! Form for BOX TOP collection:  Summer Box Tops

Help Needed!

I hope you are enjoying  your summer break! I have had a wonderful time spending time with my family. Along with going to the beach, we have been getting our son, Danny, ready for college. At the end of August, he is heading off for his freshman year at Michigan Tech. We are adding lots of warm gear to his pile of clothes!

I have also had fun getting our classroom ready! There are many little jobs to do before the end of summer. Our first grade teaching team would LOVE some help in organizing and preparing our classrooms, so we are having a First Grade Work Night in August. This is a great way for us to get to know you before September, and also for us to get some much needed help with a few time consuming jobs.

Our work night will be on Tuesday, August 19 from 7 to 8-ish and we welcome your help. If you are able to stop by, we promise to keep you and your first grader busy with some fun projects!
