Learning Update

Reading:

This week, we used two person plays to practice fluency or smooth reading. With their partners, the kids first worked on figuring out tricky words in their play. Next, they practiced fluent reading by scooping words and adding feeling into their voices. On Friday, the partners were matched up with another partnership that had a different play and took turns performing. The kids had a blast with these silly plays! Look for this play in your child’s blue folder and have fun reading it together this weekend.

Math:

During our math time this week, we continued to solve missing partner and missing total stories. We also revisited a concept that was first introduced back in October. We used our understanding of the partners in an addition equation to help us find the missing partner in a subtraction equation, but this time we were working with teen totals. Next week, we will be working on solving addition equations with three partners.
