Research indicates that there is a strong connection between reading and writing. At Georgetown, our teachers use the writing workshop approach. During this writing time students are given daily time to write, shown models of good writing, and provided with responses that help them improve their writing. Writing workshop is a valuable and favorite time of the day. Watch this movie to hear our students’ thoughts on writing…
Oh Diana! This is so great! Thanks for sharing the end product with us!!
This is a fantastic video! How lucky your students are to have you for a teacher, using the writing workshop as a literacy model. Great job soliciting the students’ input and voices. I particularly liked the description from the student who gets his “wires” going in his head for new ideas, and the student who told about how he likes writing about “Crimson Skies.” Thanks so much for sharing this with me here in Oklahoma.
I learned a new trick. Next time I’m stuck for ideas, I’ll just flick my scalp and see what I come up with. Great kids. I liked hearing about revision pens, taking out and adding words, and glueing more paper on when necessary.
This is great! May I use this in my digital storytelling presentations?
